Notes: A bit of a contrast from yesterday's architectural shot! Dull, flat light for most of the day. I took a detour into Blackmore on the way to the supermarket this morning. The Priory Church of St. Laurence has a Medieval bell tower and this is the door on the north side. I liked the details in the beams, and the slightly wonky look it had. But it's been standing since the 15th Century, so it's unlikely to fall down any time soon.

Congratulations on such an interesting photograph taken from a teasing angle. I know the church well as I live locally and am keen on local history.

It's the first time I've visited the church and would have liked a look inside too, but unfortunately it was locked at the time.
I hope to return when it is open and the sun is shining.
The Priory Church of St Laurence, Blackmore, is open to visitors, with a steward on duty, from the beginning of May to the first weekend in October as follows:
Tuesdays to Fridays, 1.00 to 4.00pm; Sundays, 2.30 to 4.30pm, with 'Teas In The Tower' on the first Sunday in each month.
Services are Sundays at 11.00am.
Why not come and see - and photograph - the inside of the bell tower? Architectural historian, Nikolaus Pevsner, desribed it as "one of the most impressive, if not the most impressive, of all timber towers in England".
Thanks for the information, Tea in the Tower sounds good, but it will have to be June as I'm on holiday for the May opening.
